We are so excited to welcome Jordan Vogt as our Summer Program Director for 2025! Jordan knows the Canoe Base well, with years of experience as an NLCB guide and GIT. She also spent many years guiding sea kayaking, backpacking, and hiking trips in Washington State for a private company.
From Jordan: "I am looking forward to being back up in the northwoods and watching the magic that happens at the Northern Lakes Canoe Base! Seeing and encouraging girls to gain confidence in themselves -- being a guide at the NLCB is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had and I cannot wait to foster an environment in which this can happen."
Guides at the Northern Lakes Canoe Base work hard to create a warm and caring atmosphere where Girl Scouts can let their personalities shine. They are usually in college or have recently graduated. Guides come with a unique blend of wilderness, Girl Scouting, BWCAW, and educational experience. In addition to certifications in lifeguarding and Wilderness First Aid (WFA), all guides go through a rigorous and hands-on training at the Canoe Base. One of the most common comments we hear from both youth and adult participants is that they had no idea how fun, involved, talented, and hard-working their guides would be! Hi! My name is Sofia and I’m from Baltimore, MD. I’m going into my fourth year at Oberlin College, where I study viola performance and history. I guided with the Girl Scouts in 2023. During the summers in between I worked in a kitchen in a very beautiful town in South East Alaska. But the North Woods was always on my mind and I’m very grateful to be back in the BWCAW this year!
Eva is from La Crosse, WI and this is her 6th year at the canoe base. In 2019, she did her first 7 day destination trip, followed by a 10 day in 2022. She came back and GIT’d in 2023 and 2024 and returned last year and this year as a guide. She is super excited to be in the north woods again! In her free time, she enjoys working loads as a manager at her local Dunkin’, along with spending time with her friends, and shopping.
Isabel is from Jupiter, Florida, this summer is her second year as a guide and fourth summer at NLCB. She is in college to receive an Associates degree in communications and will transfer in the spring for a Bachelors. In her free time she reads, journals, and spends time around the water.
Hi! My name is Ella and this will be my second year as a guide and my fourth year in the Boundary Waters! I am from right outside Philadelphia and just finished my freshman year at the Unversity of South Carolina where I am studying engineering. In my free time I love sewing, hiking, watching romcoms, and of course paddling!
Hi I’m Hanna! I’m from Kansas City, Missouri and I study Enviromental Science. I love animals, baking, and music. This is my fourth summer coming to the Boundary Waters and I’m so excited to be guiding!
